Busy Year

I'm terribly sorry for not keeping things up to date but God has blessed this ministry mightily this year as it's been a very busy year, with many opportunities to share God's love. I couldn't have done this without the help of you all, though, as you've come through on every request, helping us to meet the needs of others, both those in the church and the community. We've even been called to tear down one of the church rentals to help make room for the new sanctuary, where God willing we'll be able to reach more people for Christ.

I'm really looking forward to enjoying this Christmas season, reflecting on Christ's birth and what he has meant to my family and I this last year. I pray that you also have a blessed Christmas, get some much needed rest and that you also look forward to what God has in store for this ministry in 2008. Be aware of those you come in contact with and when you see a need be sure to share that need with the team so that we can see if we can;'t meet that need.

Proverbs 19:17
He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.

Proverbs 21:13
If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.

Proverbs 22:9
A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.

Proverbs 28:27

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

Colossians 3:12

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.1 John 3:17-18
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

Merry Christmas

Moving Day Update

Spoke to Rikki last Sunday and the move is still set for Saturday, June 2nd. I still need several interested in helping paint indoors on Friday, June 1st to get the house ready. She's also mentioned she would like to start moving some items Friday, mostly small items or boxes, so there's another opportunity there if you're interested.

The move on Saturday would start at their house in Elmwood. My plan right now would be to meet for coffee at 7AM at McDonalds, leave there at 7:30 and arrive in Elmwood by 8AM. For the move we'll need trucks, trailers and any 2 wheeled carts we can get so that ideally we only have to make one trip to Canton. Please let me know if you're interested and if you have any of the above items so we can be sure we'll have enough help. I'd like to know for sure by Sunday, May 13th so I can let Rikki know.

Tree, Trees...Everywhere Trees

The tree cutting May 5th went extremely well but we weren't able to finish the job with all the trees to come down. There is also quite a bit of brush to cut and burn so another work day has been scheduled for May 12th. Those that care to join me at McDonalds for a cup of coffee or breakfast are invited at 7AM, with the plan to be at Mulligan's by 8AM. Needed will be several able bodied tree cutters with chainsaws and anyone else who would be able to help haul the cut wood to the woodpile or burn pile and cut / haul brush. Gloves recommended! Hope to be done by noon again. If you're unsure how to get to Fred and Shirley's house, give me a call.

Calling All Chainsaws

Is your chain sharp? Rob and I just finished mowing at the Mulligan's and there is a need for some serious tree removal. Needed are 3-4 members with chainsaws and another 4-5 to help load the cut wood onto a trailer and unload onto the burn pile. Some timber may be usable as firewood but most is old dead stands. Quite a bit of brush as well, so anyone with a brush cutter could help as well. I'm hoping to be able to get this done within the next two weeks before things get too green and it becomes harder to get to the trees. If you'd be available either this Saturday, May 5 or the 12th, drop me an email. Will also need help with mowing on the 5th, one to ride and one to trim. Plan would be to meet at the church at 9AM and work until noon.

Mowing Needs

Just learned this last Sunday that there are 2 new mowing needs as well. Both are quite large yards needing a couple to keep up with the grass this summer. Riding mowers are available at each site and I'm checking on push mowers, so if you'd be available to help with this ministry please give me a call or drop me an email. Day of the week would be up to you. Ideally we'd have enough volunteer that we could rotate this so you're not overwhelmed with the work.

One site also may have some tree trimming...I'll check on this and keep you posted.

Moving Day

Welcome. Hope everyone has found this page and have added a bookmark to your browser so it's easier to find your way back next time.

Anyway, I recently heard from Jason and Rikki Rogers that they'll be moving into Andy and Dawn Thornton's home (PTL how these things work out) on Saturday, June 2nd and have several rooms that need painted on Friday, June 1st. I'm guessing there will also be some cleaning involved. If you're free during the week, either daytime or evening, let me know as I'm putting together a work team for the project. There also may be a need for someone with plumbing experience as there is a sink and toilet to be installed in the basement...not sure on this yet. On move day we're going to need as many trucks, trailers and dollies as we can get as we'll be moving from Elmwood to Canton and it would be great if we only had to make one trip.
